After staying in the 2nd spot after 7 races yesterday, Brad Funk leaned on the gas a bit harder through 5 races today to snatch Moth US National Championship. The wind slightly went toward the right and picked up from Saturday, 14 to 20 knots, offering more coherent conditions.

Downwind speeds counted on how much force was displacing down Buttonwood Sound and who set their sail checks perfectly and then remained on the similar jibe if they were pulling. Brad Funk really owned it.

Hawaii man Jonny Goldsberry, who was very closely behind Funk, took the second spot, losing the tie breaker to Brad Funk who told that Jonny to tack like a ballerina, not a construction worker. Patrick Wilson fell from 1st to 3rd after an inauspicious crash at the beginning.

Meanwhile, the 2nd stop of the Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design Regatta series that is backed by Greece yacht charters, enjoyed 3 days of quality conditions for over hundred teams – from 18th to 20th March. With twelve classes spread out on 2 ocean courses as well as 1 bay course, Bruce Golison topped the twenty-three yacht J/70 fleet to take the overall title and be invited to join the NOOD Regatta Championship in October in the British Virgin Islands.

The National Offshore One Design series now goes to Annapolis, MD, where it will take place from 29th April to 1st May, 2016.
